Applied AI Engineer (Life Sciences)

Location: London, UK. Hybrid policy: staff are expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more office presence.

Annual salary: £225,000–£255,000 GBP.

What you will do

• Partner with life sciences research institutions to understand scientific workflows and build integrated production systems.
• Develop MCP servers for genomics platforms, literature databases, experimental repositories, and scientific instruments.
• Create scientifically grounded benchmarks and reusable agent skills for broader institutional adoption.
• Identify deployment challenges involving heterogeneous data, auditability, and the transition from prototypes to trusted systems.
• Share findings with product, engineering, and research teams while creating technical documentation for partner self-service.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in a field relevant to the role.
• Deep research experience in life sciences, biomedical research, or scientific computing.
• Experience building LLM-powered tools or applications, including prompting, context engineering, agent architectures, or evaluation frameworks.
• Experience shipping production code as a software engineer, forward-deployed engineer, or technical founder.
• Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments, build from scratch, and collaborate closely with academic and engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Technical experience in genomics, neuroscience, or drug discovery.
