Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid role in the United States. Birmingham, Alabama typically requires in-office work at least two days per week on Wednesdays and Thursdays; comparable hybrid arrangements may be available in Minneapolis or San Francisco.

Salary: $65,000–$110,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, maintain, and secure endpoint and network architectures across applications, endpoints, and cloud infrastructure.
• Build security automations and tools to improve detection, reporting, and incident response.
• Resolve production-level security issues and support engineering teams with cybersecurity best practices.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews while maintaining technical documentation and diagrams.
• Evaluate security controls against compliance frameworks and current industry standards.
• Share expertise through collaboration and mentorship.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in network or endpoint security architecture and administration.
• Prior experience in IT, such as network or systems administration, before specializing in security.
• Enterprise macOS endpoint management and security experience.
• Experience with EDR, Privileged Access Management, DLP, SIEM platforms, and log analysis tools.
• Experience automating security reporting and other tasks using tool APIs or Python, JavaScript, Go, or Bash.
• Knowledge of networking, compute architectures, operating systems, technology stacks, responsible AI and LLM use in security, and frameworks such as NIST CSF, PCI, SOC 2, or HIPAA. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
