Associate Category Manager (Packaging)

Location: West Hills, California, United States; onsite role with regular shift. Travel to supplier sites or hirify.global locations may be required. No immigration sponsorship or support is available, including Form I-983 support for STEM OPT.

Salary: $88,000–$146,000 annual target base pay for candidates in California and the New York metro area. National target base pay range: $80,000–$133,000.

What you will do

• Support category strategy development for corrugate and label packaging, including supplier markets, pricing trends, capacity, risk, and roadmap planning.
• Lead and support RFx activities, bid analysis, supplier evaluation, pricing negotiations, commercial term alignment, and award recommendations.
• Manage supplier relationships, performance reviews, KPI tracking, service issues, quality escalations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with Planning, Operations, Quality, R&D/Packaging Engineering, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, and suppliers to meet supply, cost, quality, compliance, and innovation requirements.
• Track pricing, savings, cost avoidance, market trends, material costs, inflation or deflation, and total cost of ownership.
• Support packaging changes, new item launches, alternate supplier qualifications, material substitutions, artwork and label updates, sustainability initiatives, and risk mitigation.

Requirements

• 2–3+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, packaging, operations, or a related business role.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Ability to analyze spend, pricing, supplier bids, forecasts, market trends, cost drivers, and total cost of ownership.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting recommendations to internal stakeholders and suppliers.
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with ERP, sourcing tools, supplier portals, or procurement systems is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities with accuracy, urgency, ownership, and follow-through.

Nice to have

• Experience in manufacturing, CPG, food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or other regulated environments.
• Experience with packaging engineering, supplier consolidation, specification optimization, standardization, or sustainability-related packaging initiatives.
