Senior ISP Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid role in San Francisco, California, with attendance at the assigned location at least three times per week. Travel is expected to be less than 25%. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Salary: $174,900–$250,200 base compensation, plus incentive pay and benefits.

What you will do

• Deliver camera ISP tuning optimized for autonomous vehicle and ADAS use cases.
• Collaborate with camera hardware, embedded software, systems, machine learning, and vehicle fleet teams, as well as external imaging component vendors.
• Design and execute objective and subjective image quality evaluations using lab charts, real-world scenes, Imatest, and custom analysis tools.
• Characterize image sensors and optimize HDR configurations, ISP settings, and sensor operating modes.
• Investigate and resolve image quality issues during sensor validation, vehicle testing, and manufacturing.
• Develop new techniques for improving ISP performance and camera-based machine perception at scale.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in camera ISP tuning and evaluation, with a degree in imaging science, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with AE, AWB, HDR processing, noise reduction, sharpness, tone mapping, and color tuning.
• Experience with ISP architectures, camera development, image sensor characterization, and sensor configuration.
• Experience with image quality evaluation software such as Imatest.
• Programming proficiency in C, C++, or Python, plus experience in image processing and data analysis.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from San Francisco, California, with regular on-site attendance.

• Automotive ISP tuning experience.
• Firmware design or real-time systems experience.
• Experience with vendor management and manufacturing processes.
• Experience optimizing camera ISP and sensor-level image quality settings for computer vision or machine learning.
• Knowledge of how sensor hardware and optical design affect image quality and ISP trade-offs.
