Junior / Mid-Level Fullstack Developer

TL;DR

Junior / Mid-Level Fullstack Developer (Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, React/Angular): Building secure, reliable full-stack software for public-sector and operational environments with an accent on backend services, APIs, databases, testing and maintainable user interfaces. What you will do

• Build and maintain backend services, Spring Boot applications, REST APIs and system integrations using Java or Kotlin.
• Contribute to frontend development with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular or AngularJS.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases to structure, query and manage data.
• Write automated unit, integration and functional tests, participate in code reviews and resolve defects.
• Use Git, build tools and CI/CD pipelines while collaborating with product, QA, design, DevOps and engineering colleagues.
• Apply engineering practices focused on security, performance, accessibility and maintainability.

Requirements

• Approximately 2–5 years of software development experience, or equivalent practical capability.
• Hands-on experience with Java or Kotlin, object-oriented programming, backend frameworks and relational or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with Git, collaborative development workflows, CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery.
• A test-first approach and willingness to maintain automated tests.
• Ability to work effectively in an agile team, communicate clearly and take ownership of delivery.
• Existing right to work in the UK and at least five years of UK residency for potential SC security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate or similar backend technologies.
• Frontend experience with TypeScript, React, Angular, AngularJS or Vue, including modernisation of legacy interfaces.
• Exposure to AWS or Azure, containers, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards or experience in secure, regulated or operationally sensitive environments.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or relevant training and certifications.
