TL;DR
Manager, Nuclear Design (Nuclear Fuel and Core Design): Leading the Nuclear Design team in delivering core design, neutronics, fuel design, and associated analyses for active customer programs with an accent on licensed design methods, design-basis control, and regulatory compliance. Focus on coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, managing technical delivery across concurrent programs, and maintaining fuel and core design integrity under NRC-approved requirements.

Location: Remote within the contiguous United States, with national and local business travel as required.

Salary: $150,537–$181,683 target base salary annually; full base salary range of $134,964–$211,098 annually.

What you will do

  • Provide technical direction and day-to-day management for engineers working on core design, neutronics, fuel design, thermal-mechanical analysis, and start-up physics testing.
  • Maintain design-basis discipline, configuration control, fuel design specifications, and licensing commitments across the product line.
  • Review and approve engineering specifications, calculations, reports, technical standards, and design documentation.
  • Coordinate interfaces with safety analysis, radiological engineering, NSSS design, licensing, plant operations, suppliers, regulators, and customers.
  • Develop schedules, resource plans, forecasts, statements of work, and capacity plans across a multi-project portfolio.
  • Lead peer reviews, technical audits, staff development, performance management, and cross-functional technical projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Nuclear Engineering; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible engineering experience in the relevant technical area.
  • Lead or supervisory experience is preferred, along with experience managing multidisciplinary staff and coordinating design interfaces.
  • Deep expertise in nuclear fuel and core design, licensed design methods, reload design, safety analysis, fuel-cycle management, and reload strategy development.
  • Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 is required.
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance requirements including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.
