Senior Software Engineer (HPC)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (HPC): Supporting classified high-performance computing users and maintaining Linux-based modeling and simulation environments with an accent on user onboarding, workflow troubleshooting, scripting, and scientific software support. Focus on debugging complex HPC workflows, maintaining Fortran/C/C++ codebases, and coordinating technical issues across customer, operations, and security teams.

Location: On site in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at a classified customer site. U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly are required to start.

What you will do

• Provide direct technical support to HPC users in a classified R&D environment.
• Manage user onboarding, account access, permissions, and environment setup.
• Troubleshoot Linux systems, applications, scripts, workflows, GUI tools, and user environments.
• Develop, debug, maintain, and document software using Fortran, C, C++, Bash, and Korn shell.
• Coordinate technical issues with users, customers, site staff, operations and maintenance, and security teams.
• Create onboarding materials, tutorials, user documentation, and training content while mentoring junior engineers or scientists.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly are required to start.
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related discipline.
• At least 10 years of professional technical experience, including approximately 5 years supporting or developing modeling and simulation software.
• Experience supporting HPC users, workflows, or technical computing environments.
• Strong Linux proficiency and experience with Fortran, C and/or C++, Bash, and Korn shell scripting.
• Experience debugging and maintaining existing codebases, unit testing, documentation, coding standards, and configuration management.

Nice to have

• Experience with HPC clusters, scientific or research computing, job schedulers, batch processing, parallel computing, or distributed applications.
• Experience supporting classified defense, aerospace, intelligence, or R&D programs.
• Experience creating training materials and onboarding guides or mentoring junior engineers.
