Sr. Data Scientist, Clinical Data Solutions (AI)

Location: Onsite at the San Diego headquarters, California, United States.

Salary: $103,300–$141,000 annual base salary, plus a target annual bonus of 20% and eligibility for an equity-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Collaborate with Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Biometrics, and medical teams on clinical trial design, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines, analytical products, dashboards, metrics, risk indicators, and decision-support tools.
• Apply programming, statistics, visualization, predictive modeling, patient stratification, and exploratory analysis to clinical and operational data.
• Develop AI-enabled, biomarker, translational, and digital measurement solutions for clinical review, automation, and risk detection.
• Build production solution stacks using Git, code review, CI/CD, release documentation, validation, and change-control practices.
• Provide technical guidance, optimize cloud infrastructure, and maintain documentation, data definitions, validation evidence, and solution roadmaps.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant analytical experience, master’s degree with 2+ years, or PhD with applicable academic or applied experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, R, or another mainstream programming language, with strong SQL, relational database design, and data modeling skills.
• Experience with Databricks or Snowflake and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, R Shiny, or Streamlit.
• Strong practical knowledge of statistics, including hypothesis testing, regression, confidence intervals, trend analysis, outlier detection, and signal-versus-noise assessment.
• Experience with AI/ML, generative AI, NLP, predictive modeling, model evaluation, responsible AI, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, testing, Git, and scalable deployment.
• Knowledge of clinical data flows, CDISC standards, GCP, GxP, validation, audit trails, data integrity, privacy, and regulated clinical development processes.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in biopharma, CRO, medical devices, healthcare technology, or another regulated industry.
• Familiarity with clinical data capture, trial management, randomization systems, Real World Data, EHR, and wearable data sources.
