Senior Software Engineer (Data & AI Solutions)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain data products for R&D, analytics, lab, and scientific workflows from design to deployment.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for large complex datasets from raw inputs to analysis-ready formats.
• Apply genetics and bioinformatics knowledge to design data models, schemas, and abstractions aligned with research needs.
• Design de-identification and privacy-preserving architectures meeting HIPAA requirements.
• Partner with scientists, bioinformaticians, and engineers to create reusable data assets.
• Optimize storage, retrieval, and lifecycle management for large scientific files like sequencing data.
• Drive prototyping for proof-of-concepts and transition to production systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in computer science or bioinformatics with healthcare/biotech data experience preferred.
• 8+ years in data engineering, data pipelines, and cloud architectures (Snowflake, AWS).
• Strong background in bioinformatics, genomics, or computational biology; knowledge of BAM, VCF, FASTQ formats.
• Experience supporting scientific R&D and lab workflows with production data systems.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, distributed processing (Spark), orchestration (Airflow, dbt, Dagster).
• Experience with AI-assisted tools, data modeling, CI/CD, IaC (Terraform), data observability.
• Hands-on HIPAA compliance and regulated data experience.

• Exposure to vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, or RAG architectures.
