TL;DR
Software Developer (Java) (Spring Boot/API SDK): Developing and maintaining ING’s foundational API SDK framework for secure, resilient, and high-performance digital banking services with an accent on microservices integration, service discovery, security, and observability. Focus on evolving backward-compatible framework components, enabling service mesh connectivity, and improving developer experience through APIs, documentation, testing tools, and reference implementations.
Location: Bucharest, Romania, with a flexible hybrid work setup

What you will do
- Develop and maintain core components of the Spring Boot-based API SDK.
- Build features for security, resilience, observability, service discovery, and service mesh connectivity.
- Integrate the framework with ING infrastructure platforms and support direct and proxy-based deployments.
- Design user-friendly APIs and configuration interfaces, documentation, testing tools, and reference implementations.
- Support teams adopting the SDK and review community contributions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Java development.
- Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
- Practical knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Maven, resilience patterns, and service mesh concepts.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, OAuth2, JWT, PKI, mTLS, Prometheus, Grafana, and centralized logging.
Nice to have
- Experience developing frameworks or SDKs.
- Knowledge of Kafka, API gateways, OpenAPI, PostgreSQL, or Cassandra.
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
