TL;DR
Manager, Copyright, APAC (Music Publishing): Leading APAC copyright administration, catalogue registrations, contract workflows, and royalty collection activities with an accent on team leadership, society coordination, and process improvement. Focus on translating music publishing contracts into copyright systems, resolving registration and income discrepancies, and analyzing high-volume data to optimize royalty collections.

Location: Petaling Jaya, Malaysia; minimum 4 days per week in the office

What you will do

  • Lead and develop the APAC Regional Copyright team, prioritizing workloads and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Manage copyright administration across contracts, works registration, duplicate claims, disputes, suspense research, portals, and catalogue records.
  • Monitor APAC deal signings, territory-wide catalogue registrations, affiliate agreements, and royalty income flows.
  • Prepare performance reports and use metrics and high-volume data analysis to support operational decisions and maximize royalty collections.
  • Resolve copyright, registration, client, and income-collection queries with legal, finance, creative, royalty, tracking, affiliate, and society stakeholders.
  • Drive process improvements, support strategic planning and project management, provide training, and represent the business in external industry groups.

Requirements

  • Degree in music or administration.
  • At least 6 years of experience as a Copyright Administrator at an international music publisher, including at least 2 years of team management experience.
  • Experience interpreting music publishing contracts and translating commercial terms into copyright and royalty systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of PRO/CMO collective rights administration policies and operational activities.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Power Pivot and advanced formulas, plus the ability to analyze and manipulate high-volume data files.
  • Ability to read and write in English and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese; comfortable working across time zones when required.

Nice to have

  • Ability to read and write Korean, Japanese, Thai, or Vietnamese.
  • Understanding of collection society structures and licensing and distribution processes.
  • Background in collection society or music rights management administration.
  • Passion for music.
