Data Engineering Supervisor (Microsoft Fabric)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates must already be authorized to work for any US employer without current or future visa sponsorship.

Salary: $135,000–$150,000 per year, plus 5% determined by market analysis and internal equity considerations.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Data Engineering team through coaching, performance feedback, code reviews, design reviews, onboarding, and succession planning.
• Set engineering standards, governance processes, reusable development frameworks, and operational practices across the data platform.
• Plan team capacity, prioritize workloads, manage delivery, and act as the escalation point for complex engineering issues and production incidents.
• Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end ingestion and transformation solutions using Microsoft Fabric OneLake, Lakehouses, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and Notebooks.
• Optimize Fabric capacity, query performance, Delta tables, data partitioning, pipeline execution, monitoring, alerting, and observability.
• Collaborate with analytics, architecture, business stakeholders, and senior leadership to deliver reliable data solutions for reporting, advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 10 years of combined data engineering and/or software engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of experience leading, supervising, or managing engineering teams, including performance management, mentorship, and career development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Lakehouses, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and Notebooks.
• Experience with Medallion Architecture, Delta Lake, data modeling, CI/CD, Git-based source control, data governance, data quality, data security, Apache Spark, and PySpark.
• Experience integrating Fabric with Power BI, Azure services, and external data sources, together with advanced troubleshooting, performance optimization, communication, planning, and leadership skills.
