Data Engineering Leader (AI)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; Workplace: Hybrid

Salary: $180K–$230K USD per year

What you will do

• Lead and manage a team of Scientific Data Engineers, including career development and performance management.
• Build data models, prototypes, schemas, parsers, and production solutions for pre-clinical data from laboratories, manufacturing, CROs, CDMOs, ELNs, and LIMS.
• Use LLMs to process diverse scientific data formats, including spreadsheets, PDFs, text files, raw instrument data, FID files, and vendor-specific binaries.
• Develop reusable Python libraries, high-quality data pipelines, data applications, reports, and dashboards using Python, React, Streamlit, and Jupyter notebooks.
• Lead design sessions, manage requirements and delivery milestones, and coordinate customer-focused implementation projects with product, scientific business, and solutions teams.
• Improve product quality and developer experience through unit testing, integration testing, Agile delivery, and process improvements.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building solutions as a Data Engineer or in a similar field.
• 10+ years of experience working with Python and SQL, focused on data.
• Experience managing engineering teams with five or more direct reports.
• Experience leading projects, managing requirements, timelines, delivery milestones, and multiple cross-functional customer implementations.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, technical product understanding, and confidence managing project delivery.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with data plotting and dashboarding tools such as React or Streamlit.
• Experience working with pre-clinical data and laboratory scientists.
