Payroll Specialist (Netherlands)

Location: Must be based in the Netherlands and have the right to work in this location.

What you will do

• Own the full end-to-end Dutch payroll cycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee payroll master data validation, including salary changes, benefits, and garnishments.
• Manage statutory filings such as Loonaangifte and Jaaropgave with the Belastingdienst.
• Configure and maintain in-house payroll systems (AFAS, Nmbrs, or Loket.nl).
• Advise the business on Dutch wage tax, social insurance, labor law, and CAO interpretation.
• Handle complex payroll escalations and support internal/external audits.

Requirements

• Must be based in the Netherlands with the right to work in this location.
• 5+ years of experience running native in-house payroll for the Netherlands.
• Advanced hands-on experience with AFAS, Nmbrs by Visma, and/or Loket.nl.
• Dutch language proficiency at C1/C2 level is required.
• Fluent English is required for global team collaboration.
• Relevant certifications such as PDL, VPS, or NIRPA RSa registration.

• RA/AA accountancy qualification or broader accounting background.
• Experience delivering cross-functional HR/Payroll projects.
• Practical experience with AI tools for payroll optimization.
• Strong data transformation and analytics skills.
