Principal Developer - IT (AI)

Location: Onsite in Chicago or Arlington Heights, Illinois, United States. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Salary: $140,600–$183,108 base pay per year, plus potential bonus and long-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and scale distributed customer data, identity, and audience activation platforms handling millions of customer interactions.
• Lead the full software lifecycle, including requirements, technical specifications, architecture, design, coding, integration, and Agile delivery.
• Define engineering standards and architectural direction, mentor engineers, and modernize legacy systems and processes.
• Build reusable cloud-native components using AWS services, event-driven architecture, streams, and data integration patterns.
• Embed AI/ML, Generative AI, RAG, and graph technologies into identity matching, customer insights, personalization, and next-best-action solutions.
• Collaborate with product, business, IT, data engineering, and analytics teams while ensuring privacy and data governance compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 7–10+ years of experience in information technology solutions architecture and at least 3 years in customer identity management.
• Deep expertise in customer data platforms, identity resolution, identity graphs, digital identifiers, privacy, universal identities, and audience activation.
• Advanced AWS knowledge, cloud-native architecture experience, modern software engineering practices, and hands-on coding with Java, Python, or .NET.
• Experience with stateful and stateless models, batch, real-time and hybrid CDP approaches, integrations, and data-driven personalization.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; reliable and punctual attendance is required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Airline or related industry experience with booking, order, or loyalty concepts.
• AWS Neptune Graph Database, cloud ETL, streams, event-driven architecture, and Gremlin or Cypher query language.
• Experience with AI/ML-driven customer engagement applications.
