Accounting Lead (Robotics)

TL;DR

Accounting Lead (Robotics): Own and scale the accounting function for a rapidly growing robotics and logistics technology company, with an accent on multi-entity reporting, tax compliance, and accounting infrastructure. Focus on leading month-end close, implementing automation and controls, and building a high-performing international accounting team.

Location: Onsite in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, a minimum of 4 days per week. Sponsorship and relocation support are not available.

What you will do

• Own accounting across entities in the UK, EU, USA, and additional jurisdictions as the company expands.
• Lead month-end close, financial reporting, consolidations, intercompany accounting, and continuous process improvements.
• Manage VAT, sales tax, corporate tax filings, transfer pricing, permanent establishment risk, and statutory compliance.
• Lead audits and coordinate external auditors, tax advisors, and accounting partners.
• Support board reporting, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, investor due diligence, and SOX readiness.
• Lead, mentor, and grow the accounting team, initially managing three accountants.

Requirements

• 8+ years of accounting experience, including experience as an Accounting Lead, Head of Accounting, Senior Controller, or in a similar senior role.
• Experience building and scaling accounting processes and teams in a high-growth company.
• Strong knowledge of accruals, revenue recognition, reconciliations, consolidations, inventory, provisions, foreign currency, and multi-entity accounting.
• Strong understanding of VAT across the UK and Europe, transfer pricing, and multi-currency accounting; sales tax experience in the United States and Canada is beneficial.
• Experience managing and developing accounting professionals, implementing modern finance tools, and improving accounting systems.
• Must be onsite in Wallingford at least 4 days per week; sponsorship and relocation are unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience with sales tax in the United States and Canada.
• Experience with Xero or modern ERP systems.
