Senior Finance Specialist

TL;DR

Senior Finance Specialist (Project Finance): Managing comprehensive financial oversight for international projects and programmes with an accent on budgeting, reporting, donor compliance, audits, and risk management. Focus on consolidating partner financial data, strengthening project controls, advising project leaders, and building robust financial systems across complex operating contexts.

Location: Hybrid work based at the hirify.global office in The Hague, with approximately 50% in the office and 50% from home. Candidates must be eligible to work in the country of application. Qualified candidates residing in the Netherlands or EU/EEA may apply; candidates outside the EU/EEA may apply if willing to relocate to the Netherlands at their own expense. Visa sponsorship is not provided. Travel to different countries may be required, sometimes at short notice.

Salary: €3,543–€5,328 gross per month, based on 36 hours per week and depending on experience.

What you will do

• Advise project leaders on financial planning, budget control, forecasting, and financial management decisions.
• Establish project-wide systems for financial planning and reporting.
• Prepare and monitor consolidated project budgets, including appraisal and consolidation of partner and country-office financial data.
• Provide financial oversight, coordinate external project audits, and manage financial risks and opportunities.
• Coordinate with Finance Quality and Control, Integrity, Corporate Finance, and other units to resolve challenges and improve tools and templates.
• Develop knowledge of donor requirements and strengthen financial management capacity among colleagues, country offices, and partners.

Requirements

• First-level university degree in financial management, business administration, accounting, or a relevant social science discipline.
• At least five years of experience in financial management or financial controlling within a project-based organization.
• Experience with financial planning, budgeting, reporting, project audits, and evaluating financial results in their political and socio-economic context.
• Comprehensive understanding of donor contract management, project finance, sub-granting, and operations in least developed, low-income, and middle-income countries.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Work authorization in the country of application is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience in an international, complex, networked organization.
• Knowledge of French and/or Dutch.
• Experience with relevant financial IT systems.
• Strong communication and social skills with a collaborative approach.
