TL;DR
Principal Sourcing Engineer (Plastics Processing and Supplier Qualification): Leading supplier transfer and optimization projects for medical technologies with an accent on Lean Six Sigma, supplier capability, quality, and operational excellence. Focus on managing cross-functional teams, validating supplier processes, mitigating manufacturing risks, and delivering projects on schedule and within budget.

Location: Onsite at a hirify.global site in Danvers, MA; Mounds View, MN; Boulder, CO; or Irvine, CA. The role requires working onsite at least four days per week and is limited to the United States.

Salary: $131,200–$196,800 USD base salary, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

  • Lead mature supplier transfer projects from planning through completion, managing schedules, budgets, risks, resources, KPIs, and stakeholder communication.
  • Direct cross-functional teams spanning R&D, operations, category management, supplier quality, contract manufacturers, and OEM suppliers.
  • Drive supplier optimization, process capability, lead-time improvement, waste reduction, cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply chain resilience.
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma and structured problem-solving methods to identify and resolve process and manufacturing issues.
  • Review supplier part qualification and validation activities, including IQ, OQ, and PQ, and conduct supplier design reviews.
  • Execute phase-in/phase-out planning while identifying test coverage gaps and addressing quality and manufacturability risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of relevant experience in plastics processing and supplier qualification; or a master’s degree with at least 5 years; or a PhD with at least 3 years.
  • Proven experience managing projects or programs, including financial accountability, schedules, budgets, risks, and matrixed teams.
  • Strong expertise in supplier qualification, process improvement, technical problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Must be able to work onsite at least four days per week at one of the listed U.S. locations.
  • For degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).
  • U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is available for Principal-level roles and above in accordance with business needs.

Nice to have

  • PMP certification and extensive project or program leadership experience.
  • Experience with site-to-site supplier transfers in manufacturing environments.
  • Supplier quality experience and knowledge of injection molding or extrusion processes.
  • Experience with PowerPoint and MS Project.
