Network Architect (Network Security): Designing and modernizing enterprise-wide network and security architectures for Department of Defense missions with an accent on Zero Trust, interoperability, routing, switching, and network resilience. Focus on implementing segmentation and SDN technologies, documenting complex protocol behavior, troubleshooting multivendor environments, and improving security, reliability, and availability for critical systems.

Location: Remote within the United States, with occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility. Available office or customer locations include Fort Meade, Maryland; Columbus, Ohio; Hill AFB, Utah; Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; Pensacola, Florida; San Antonio, Texas; Scott AFB, Illinois; and Tinker AFB, Oklahoma.

Salary: $77,600–$176,000 annualized USD

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and support enterprise network and security architectures for DoD hybrid environments.
• Implement Zero Trust principles, network segmentation, microsegmentation, SDN, SD-WAN, container networking, and virtualization solutions.
• Analyze existing infrastructures and troubleshoot complex routing, switching, transport, and interoperability issues.
• Document network and security architectures, BGP policies, firewall configurations, NAT flows, ZTNA implementations, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Optimize multivendor platforms and advise clients on Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, optical networking, and related technologies.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and guide technical problem-solving across critical modernization projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, deploying, and supporting network and security architectures in DoD hybrid environments.
• At least 2 years of experience with network segmentation or microsegmentation, SDN, SD-WAN, container networking, or virtualization.
• At least 2 years of experience documenting complex network and security architectures and troubleshooting workflows.
• At least 2 years of experience with protocols including BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS, LDP, RSVP, VPLS, STP, or L3VPNs.
• Active Secret clearance is required.
• High school diploma or GED and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience operating DoD networks and developing enterprise-level architectures.
• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Versa, commercial cloud, and DoD cloud networks.
• Experience applying STIGs and performing system security hardening.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering.
• CCNP or JNCP certification.
