What you will do

• Define the cost of revenue classification methodology for hosting, infrastructure, and data provider costs.
• Build and own the monthly cost accrual process to capture vendor costs accurately at period-end.
• Reconcile vendor invoices against internal usage data across 200+ data provider contracts.
• Execute month-end close for cost of revenue, including journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis.
• Partner with Data Partnerships on vendor negotiations and contract structuring to optimize cost impact.
• Apply AI and modern tooling to design scalable vendor reconciliation and cost accrual workflows.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience with exposure to revenue, cost, or accrual accounting.
• Solid knowledge of US GAAP cost classification principles (cost of revenue vs. opex).
• Data fluency with the ability to reconcile large, complex vendor invoice and usage datasets.
• Proven track record of building financial processes from scratch without a pre-existing playbook.
• Must be based in or be able to work hybrid in New York or San Francisco.

• Experience at a high-growth startup.
• Experience managing vendor costs in a usage-based or consumption-based business model.
• Active CPA certification.
• Hands-on experience applying AI tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to automate tasks.
• Proficiency in SQL.
