What you will do

• Review selected inpatient records for incomplete, conflicting, or inadequate clinical documentation.
• Query physicians and caregivers to clarify missing or conflicting information and improve coding specificity.
• Evaluate complications, comorbidities, severity of illness, risk of mortality, case mix index, secondary diagnoses, and procedure impact on DRG.
• Educate providers on clear documentation and support appropriate reimbursement and clinical severity classification.
• Follow AHA guidelines and coding clinics, conduct follow-up reviews, and maintain confidentiality.
• Track reviewed cases and queries while meeting production and quality metrics.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of clinical documentation improvement experience.
• At least 3 years of clinical experience in an academic medical center.
• Registered Nurse license and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• CCDS or CDIP certification required.
• Pass a CDI skills competency assessment.
• Accommodate a minimum of 15 hours per week.
