Optical Transport Senior Engineer - Long Haul Wave

What you will do

• Design end-to-end backbone wavelength services, including feasibility studies, route selection, optical path design, reach validation, and spectrum planning.
• Assign wavelengths and optimize optical spectrum while selecting transponders, muxponders, and line-side hardware.
• Provision, configure, integrate, and turn up services across multi-vendor optical transport networks using Nokia and Ciena platforms.
• Validate optical performance through power verification, performance testing, error-free burn-in, and customer acceptance testing.
• Troubleshoot network, optical, and service-layer issues and collaborate with field operations, NOCs, engineering teams, and vendor support.
• Maintain circuit records and as-built documentation, follow engineering standards, and identify automation and provisioning workflow improvements.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience engineering, provisioning, or supporting DWDM and optical transport networks in a carrier or large-scale service provider environment.
• Strong knowledge of DWDM, ROADM architectures, wavelength planning, optical amplification, regeneration, OSNR, dispersion, and optical power budgets.
• Experience provisioning and troubleshooting optical transport equipment across multiple vendor platforms and diagnosing end-to-end circuits.
• Direct experience with Nokia 1830 PSS, PSD, PSI-M, and related optical transport platforms.
• Direct experience with Ciena 6500, Waveserver, and RLS platforms, including long-haul or backbone optical transport networks.
• Strong documentation and communication skills, with experience supporting service turn-up, customer acceptance testing, and production implementations.
