What you will do

• Search for, acquire, and analyze data for breaking and long-term stories.
• Investigate disruptions in legal, financial, and government arenas.
• Turn raw data into accessible, data-driven stories for readers.
• Collaborate with reporters, editors, and creative teams across the newsroom.
• Explore new technologies and storytelling methods to produce investigative journalism with impact.

Requirements

• Excellent writing and reporting skills, with the ability to explain data-driven findings clearly.
• Strong understanding of statistics and statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes.
• Experience requesting, cleaning, and analyzing multiple government or private datasets.
• Proficiency in Python or R, plus strong data visualization skills and knowledge of JavaScript, D3, and Svelte.
• Bachelor’s degree with journalism coursework or equivalent experience, and 5+ years of journalism experience.
