TL;DR
Staff Platform Engineer (Kubernetes): Defining and building the infrastructure and platform architecture behind a scalable, secure engineering operations product with an accent on Kubernetes, GitOps, multi-tenant isolation, database reliability, and compliance deployments. Focus on designing blast-radius protection, hardening deployment foundations for government customers, and setting organization-wide standards for observability and operational readiness.
Location: Fully remote within the United States; occasional company offsites require in-person attendance.
Salary: $250,000–$285,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do
- Define architecture and engineering standards for the platform and infrastructure layer.
- Own the deployment pipeline and lead the transition to GitOps with Argo.
- Design multi-tenant isolation, blast-radius protection, and dedicated or single-tenant deployments.
- Lead database stabilization, performance improvements, availability initiatives, and safe migrations.
- Build infrastructure for encryption, authentication, data-flow boundaries, and compliance-heavy government deployments.
- Establish standards for observability, on-call operations, and platform-first engineering in collaboration with leadership and product.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on experience designing, operating, and scaling high-performance production systems.
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code, including Terraform.
- Strong PostgreSQL or comparable database experience covering performance, availability, and migrations at scale.
- System-level architectural judgment, including multi-region planning, blast-radius analysis, and failure-mode prevention.
- Working proficiency in at least one application language, preferably on the JVM, with the ability to debug and ship changes across infrastructure and application layers.
- Strong security mindset, fluent critical use of AI in engineering, and excellent communication and technical leadership skills.
Nice to have
- FedRAMP, FISMA, or other government and compliance deployment experience.
- Experience working at a hyper-growth startup.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
