What you will do

• Design infrastructure topology, scaling boundaries, and cost ceilings for a platform where deploys and migrations are executed by AI agents.
• Build validation gates, idempotency checks, and drift detectors to ensure safe automated operations.
• Diagnose complex failures in distributed systems, such as consumer lag and materialized-view chains, and encode fixes into runbooks.
• Optimize reliability and capacity for 500K events/sec through Karpenter/HPA tuning and database sizing.
• Own the security boundary, including IAM/IRSA, secret rotation, and the agent/MCP surface.
• Lead incident response and transform every resolution into a regression test and a reusable runbook.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience operating production Kubernetes and AWS infrastructure at scale.
• Strong discipline in Terraform and GitOps/Kustomize, emphasizing idempotent and self-verifying operations.
• Extensive experience in incident response for distributed systems, focusing on databases and streaming.
• Fluency in the behavior of Postgres, columnar stores, and log/streaming buses under heavy load.
• Comfort designing guardrails and checks for AI-driven automation and agent-operated systems.
