What you will do
- Build, test, troubleshoot, repair, modify, assemble, and calibrate electronic and optical systems, prototypes, and products.
- Perform board-level electronics troubleshooting, surface-mount component replacement, and electro-optical failure analysis.
- Use laboratory and metrology equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, laser power meters, beam profilers, and spectrophotometers.
- Support cross-functional R&D projects and collaborate with engineering technicians, engineers, and scientists.
- Co-develop manufacturing, testing, equipment setup, preventive maintenance, and training procedures.
- Apply structured problem-solving and LEAN principles to improve quality, efficiency, safety, reliability, and cost.
Requirements
- Associate degree in electronics or optics technology with 10+ years of experience, equivalent relevant military training, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- Experience troubleshooting electronics and performing surface-mount rework.
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters, laser power meters, flow meters, and similar troubleshooting tools.
- Strong knowledge of lasers, optical alignment, optoelectronics, and safe laser-system operation.
- Ability to analyze data, write reports, create technical documentation, solve problems, and learn new technical information.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, plus familiarity with SolidWorks and 3D-printing technology.
