Location: Hybrid role based in the Sunnyvale, California office, with time working from home.
Salary: $276,000–$310,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do
- Own sensing system performance standards for model development, on-road performance, and sensor-data applications.
- Translate product and model needs into measurable sensing requirements and align them across Robotics, AV Product, Hardware, Vehicle Software, and Automotive Product.
- Support sensor integration, system architecture, configuration decisions, and new vehicle programs.
- Design validation frameworks, benchmarks, and acceptance criteria for vehicle bring-up.
- Diagnose sensor issues and coordinate cross-functional decisions during ambiguous or fast-moving bring-up phases.
- Evaluate how sensing quality affects ML performance and partner with ML teams to improve data and model outcomes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in autonomous systems, robotics, automotive, or a closely related field, including real-world deployment or vehicle bring-up.
- Strong systems engineering skills with experience defining clear, testable sensing requirements.
- Hands-on experience integrating at least one primary sensor modality: camera, LiDAR, or radar.
- Working knowledge of perception and localization sensors, including IMU, GNSS, and wheel odometry.
- Experience evaluating sensor performance and defining metrics, benchmarks, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience collaborating with Hardware, Vehicle Software, ML, Perception, Localization, and Product teams.
Nice to have
- Autonomous driving or ADAS experience.
- Sensor calibration, time synchronization, and data alignment experience.
- Vehicle platform or embedded systems experience.
- Background in safety-critical or high-reliability systems, including SOTIF.
