Third Shift Wide Area Network Engineer (Networking): Supporting and troubleshooting large-scale network infrastructure for Department of Defense customers with an accent on routing, switching, firewalls, VPN devices, and network protocols. Focus on diagnosing complex connectivity issues, analyzing packets, configuring network devices, and maintaining reliable 24x7 operations during the third shift.

Location: San Antonio, Texas, United States. Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. Monday-Friday, 22:00-06:30 CDT, with availability to cover a 24x7 operational environment.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across diverse devices and protocols.
• Support internal and external customers and communicate with multiple customers daily.
• Provide recommendations on troubleshooting, device configuration, and technical documentation.
• Analyze routing, switching, firewall, VPN, and packet-level issues.
• Prioritize tasks and maintain reliable service in a 24x7 operational environment.

Requirements

• Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance required.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance.
• Must work Monday-Friday from 22:00 to 06:30 CDT and be available for 24x7 shift coverage.
• 5+ years of experience supporting large network infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, VPN devices, TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, OSPF, BGP, access control lists, Layer 2 switching, spanning tree, and packet analysis.
• DoD-approved 8570/8140 operating system and cybersecurity certifications, strong communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cisco switches, Palo Alto firewalls, and F5 devices.
