TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (P.E.) (3944) (Electrical Engineering/Nuclear Facilities): Supporting electrical design modifications for existing Department of Energy facilities in Paducah, Kentucky, with an accent on regulated industrial, chemical processing, and nuclear processing environments. Focus on developing design documentation, applying electrical codes and safety standards, troubleshooting equipment, and supporting testing, start-up, and field execution.

Location: Paducah, Kentucky, United States; field visits and project meetings at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant are required as needed. US citizenship is required.

Provides turnkey nuclear, environmental, engineering, facilities management, and technical services to federal agencies, commercial enterprises, and private clients.

What you will do

  • Provide electrical engineering support for DOE facility modification projects in complex industrial, chemical, and nuclear processing environments.
  • Develop and review electrical specifications, calculations, evaluations, statements of work, drawings, test plans, and technical documentation.
  • Support electrical system modifications, obsolete equipment replacement, start-up operations, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Apply national electrical codes, engineering standards, site procedures, safety requirements, and design-control requirements.
  • Coordinate design scope, reviews, schedules, deliverables, and field activities with project managers, technical disciplines, client representatives, and site stakeholders.
  • Support site access, security, quality assurance, radiological control, and worker safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Active Professional Engineer license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience developing electrical engineering design products for electrical systems, including specifications, calculations, evaluations, statements of work, and design drawings.
  • Required experience with Department of Energy projects and industrial, chemical processing, nuclear processing, environmental, or other complex regulated facilities.
  • Ability to support task-based assignments lasting from several weeks to several months.
  • US citizenship and ability to meet DOE site access, badging, security, training, safety, quality assurance, and radiological control requirements are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with power utility distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NEMA, NESC, IEEE standards, and NFPA Life Safety Code.
  • Familiarity with SKM software.
  • Experience writing equipment or construction specifications, developing test plans, supporting start-up operations, and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Experience coordinating electrical design with civil/structural, mechanical, instrumentation and controls, chemical, project management, safety, quality, and field execution stakeholders.
