Software Engineer II, Developer Tooling (Auth0)

TL;DR

Software Engineer II, Developer Tooling (Auth0) (TypeScript/Node.js): Building and operating incident management, status communication, Slack automation, and local development tools for Auth0 engineers and customers with an accent on full-stack development, reliability, and production operations. Focus on designing high-availability services, integrating third-party SaaS platforms, improving resilience and test coverage, and extending incident tooling for FedRAMP requirements.

Location: Hybrid role based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Salary: CAD 110,000–151,800 annual base salary, plus equity where applicable, bonus, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and operate features across Auth0 incident management, StatusPage, Slack applications, and local development tooling.
• Develop full-stack web applications using TypeScript, Node.js, React, and Next.js.
• Integrate REST APIs and third-party SaaS platforms while handling rate limits and service dependencies.
• Improve service resilience, availability, observability, test coverage, and inherited technical debt.
• Collaborate with Auth0 engineering teams to automate repetitive workflows and improve day-to-day operations.
• Extend incident tooling to support FedRAMP requirements and improve customer incident communication.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency with TypeScript and Node.js, plus experience with another programming language such as Go or Python.
• Experience building and operating production web applications with React and Next.js, including server-side rendering and API routes.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, REST APIs, relational and NoSQL databases, and Terraform.
• Experience supporting production services and contributing to high-availability system design.
• Experience with StatusPage or comparable customer-facing status and incident communication tooling.

Nice to have

• Experience with Redis caching strategies, including TTLs and fallback behavior.
• Experience with Tines, Zapier, Slack applications, bots, or slash commands.
• Experience with incident management tools such as incident.io or Datadog Incident Management.
• Experience with automated and end-to-end testing, Snowflake, or Apache Airflow.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, Docker, devcontainers, Tilt, Tableau, or FedRAMP.
