CTF Subject Matter Expert (Crypto Intelligence)

Location: Hybrid in Washington, D.C., United States; the role also allows working from almost anywhere for up to 90 days per year.

Salary: $175,000–$215,000 estimated base salary annually.

What you will do

• Lead counter-terrorism financing research and investigations into terrorist organizations, facilitators, propaganda, fundraising ecosystems, and operational support networks using cryptoassets.
• Track emerging CTF trends, typologies, entities, wallet clusters, and illicit behaviors across multiple jurisdictions and designation regimes.
• Integrate defensible intelligence into the dataset and convert investigative findings into scalable typologies and detection logic.
• Present CTF intelligence in client briefings, training sessions, industry forums, and engagements with regulators and public-sector partners.
• Support disruption of digital-asset facilitation networks through actionable intelligence.

Requirements

• Experience in intelligence, threat analysis, financial crime, OSINT, or related investigative work involving illicit or terrorist financing.
• Experience in a senior or highly autonomous role with strong independent judgment and strategic decision-making.
• Understanding of cryptoassets, blockchain analysis, and on-chain tracing tools.
• Ability to produce rigorous, evidence-based intelligence reports for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Working knowledge of Python, SQL, or AI-assisted querying for blockchain and open-source data analysis.
• AI fluency is essential, including applying AI to research workflows, pattern identification, OSINT processing, and written outputs.

Nice to have

• PhD or advanced degree in a relevant field.
• Experience investigating terrorist or sanctioned actors’ use of cryptoassets.
• Fluency or working proficiency in multiple languages relevant to terrorism or illicit-finance research.
• Publications, briefings, or media contributions on threat finance or cryptoasset misuse.
• Understanding of obfuscation techniques used by illicit actors.
