What you will do

• Own backend features from scoping through production deployment and ongoing operation.
• Design and deliver reliable, performant services that process real payment volume.
• Contribute to architecture discussions, service contracts, and maintainable system design.
• Monitor production impact, identify issues early, and drive incidents to resolution.
• Collaborate on scoping, code reviews, technical decisions, and engineering standards.

Requirements

• Solid backend engineering experience delivering production-ready software with minimal direction.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and production failure modes.
• Experience with REST APIs and reliable, observable service patterns.
• End-to-end ownership of development, monitoring, rollout, and post-deployment operation.
• Confidence contributing to architecture discussions and challenging unsuitable design decisions.
• Ability to work remotely from Portugal, Hungary, Poland, Romania, or South Africa.

• Experience in payments, fintech, or infrastructure.
