Senior Data Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in the Oakville, Ontario office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Compensation range: $127,000–$155,000 CAD per year.

What you will do

• Help the architect establish the managed AWS foundation and layered data zones from raw data through the safe analytical layer.
• Build prioritized data products for non-engineering teams from the backlog using the defined architecture and patterns.
• Develop governed, reproducible analytical products with testing, documentation, and full data lineage.
• Use n8n, connectors, and AI for appropriate low-code activation and light analytics, including write-backs, alerts, and simple aggregations.
• Enable product engineering teams to deploy customer-facing data products on the shared architecture through governed contracts.
• Apply reliability guardrails for high-criticality, high-volume, sensitive, non-reproducible, or ownerless workflows.

Requirements

• Senior data engineering experience, typically 6+ years, building and operating production pipelines end to end, ideally on AWS.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, with comfort using transformation tooling such as dbt.
• Hands-on production experience with managed AWS data services, including S3, Glue, Athena, and related services.
• Experience applying version control, lineage, testing, and documentation as standard practices for governed and reproducible work.
• Ability to implement a defined architecture and roadmap end to end with autonomy.
• Pragmatism to deliver an appropriate low-code solution quickly and discipline to build a durable governed version when required.

Nice to have

• Experience with low-code orchestration such as n8n or similar tools and connector-based integration.
• Exposure to entity resolution, master data management, or building a customer master across multiple source systems.
• Familiarity with data classification, PII handling, and residency controls in a regulated or public-sector setting.
• Experience with Redshift or a comparable cloud data warehouse.
