Reinsurance Accountant

Location: Fully remote, working from Nebraska or elsewhere in the United States

Salary: $52,500–$70,000 per year

What you will do

• Prepare and analyze quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial statements for approximately 50 reinsurance companies.
• Record and reconcile cash transactions, accruals, investments, and other accounting activity.
• Prepare tax returns, supporting schedules, payments, elections, correspondence, and specialized tax analyses.
• Complete domicile, licensing, and other regulatory filings while maintaining supporting documentation.
• Evaluate company performance and prepare shareholder financial reviews with Distribution and Client Wealth teams.
• Respond to accounting and reporting inquiries and support special projects with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in accounting, finance, financial analysis, or program analysis.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting-related software.
• Experience interpreting financial data and performing account reconciliations.
• Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting practices.
• Ability to work remotely from the United States, including Nebraska.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Tax preparation, tax accounting, or tax compliance experience.
• Experience with financial reporting, regulatory filings, or insurance and reinsurance accounting.
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience working with multiple legal entities and complex financial reporting environments.
