Staff Accountant (Healthcare Technology)

Location: New York, NY or Remote

Salary: $65,000–$90,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead daily accounting operations, including payables, customer billing, cash transactions, payroll processing, and inquiries.
• Prepare and post journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate records.
• Process multi-state payroll and support compliance with applicable tax and labor regulations.
• Assist with financial statements, management reporting, internal and external audits, and sales and use tax filings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on company-wide initiatives and process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of general accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of financial reporting, month-end closing, and audit support.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and learn new accounting tools.

Nice to have

• Experience in a fast-paced startup, healthcare technology, Pharmacy Benefit Management, or Big Four public accounting.
• CPA certification or progress toward obtaining it.
