What you will do

• Lead regulatory examinations, audits, inquiries, subpoenas, and data requests from federal and state regulators, tax authorities, environmental agencies, investors, and other examination bodies.
• Develop examination response plans covering timelines, document production, subject-matter expert coordination, communications, and escalation protocols.
• Coordinate with Legal, Asset Management, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to collect, validate, and produce accurate documentation.
• Build examination readiness through mock audits, response playbooks, staff training, centralized tracking, and remediation processes.
• Monitor regulatory requirements affecting solar generation, interconnection compliance, renewable energy programs, tax equity structures, and market participation.
• Manage and mentor regulatory specialists while preparing executive and board-level briefings and advising on portfolio transactions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience managing relationships with and responses to third-party regulators and investors, including state and federal agencies, examination bodies, institutional investors, or capital partners.
• Experience running concurrent, multi-jurisdiction regulatory response or examination programs with independent scopes and deadlines.
• Experience designing, improving, and scaling regulatory response processes rather than only operating within an established framework.
• Experience managing high-volume document collection and production across multiple systems and business units.
• Ability to drive cross-functional accountability without direct authority over participating teams.
• Strong written communication and sound judgment when handling confidential, privileged, and sensitive materials.

Nice to have

• Background in mortgage servicing, consumer finance, solar finance, or another heavily regulated consumer-facing industry.
• Experience with state licensing examinations and audit readiness.
• Familiarity with formal information requests, subpoenas, outside counsel relationships, and external legal spending.
• A JD is not required.
