Senior Software Engineer (SAI/SDK)

What you will do

• Design and implement SAI object types and APIs for switch ASIC platforms across multiple operating modes and architectures.
• Develop switch SDK components, including ASIC drivers, control-plane interfaces, and hardware abstraction layers.
• Integrate SAI and SDK components with SONiC and other network operating systems.
• Build test frameworks, harnesses, CI/CD pipelines, and unit and integration tests for SAI/SDK validation.
• Profile and optimize latency, throughput, and resource utilization while resolving hardware/software integration issues with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Review code, mentor junior engineers, and apply AI-assisted development tools and best practices.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of software engineering experience and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong C/C++ proficiency and deep understanding of systems programming.
• Hands-on experience developing switch ASICs or SDKs on Broadcom, Marvell, Intel, or similar platforms.
• Linux systems programming experience, including kernel interfaces and driver development.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work remotely from Costa Rica through an EOR arrangement.

Nice to have

• SAI implementation and SONiC or other network operating system integration experience.
• L2/L3 switching, routing, and high-speed interconnect protocol knowledge.
• ASIC architecture understanding and performance profiling with tools such as perf, gprof, or Valgrind.
• Open-source contributions, technical leadership, mentoring, or experience with AI-assisted development tools.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and CI/CD systems.
