TL;DR
Software and Modelling Engineer (C++/Linux): Developing on-board software for the ESA Vigil satellite programme with an accent on real-time software design, simulation environments, and hardware-in-the-loop integration. Location: Hybrid (4 days onsite in Stevenage, UK, 1 day remote)

What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain on-board software using C++.
- Build software models and simulation environments.
- Support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) design, integration, and testing.
- Debug real-time software in Linux (RedHat) environments.
- Implement multi-process and multi-threaded software applications.
- Produce technical documentation according to ECSS standards.
Requirements
- University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar.
- At least 4 years of industrial experience in software engineering.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and working knowledge of Java for testing.
- Experience with real-time software in Linux and HIL systems.
- Must be based in the UK (onsite presence in Stevenage required).
- Excellent English communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with spacecraft avionics systems and ECSS software standards (specifically ECSS PUS).
- Knowledge of SpaceWire, MIL-STD-1553, and CAN Bus protocols.
- Previous experience with ESA or other space programmes.
