Product Owner (API Platform)

Location: Must report to the Austin, TX or Somerset, NJ office, or work on a hybrid basis. Up to 10% travel may be required.

Salary: $90,000–$135,000 annually, including base salary.

What you will do

• Own the vision, roadmap, and backlog for the API Platform, API Management, Developer Portal, and governance capabilities.
• Translate business needs into prioritized product features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Prioritize investments that improve API adoption, developer experience, platform scalability, and enterprise digital transformation.
• Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, release prioritization, and product delivery activities.
• Define and monitor KPIs covering platform adoption, API consumption, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
• Align business, engineering, architecture, security, and operations teams while communicating roadmap progress, risks, and trade-offs to leadership.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, or in a related product leadership role.
• Experience managing technology platforms, digital products, or enterprise integration solutions and working with software development teams and technical architects.
• Advanced backlog management, prioritization, user story, acceptance criteria, and Agile delivery skills.
• Knowledge of API lifecycle management, API governance, developer experience, REST APIs, JSON, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and API security.
• Understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and modern integration patterns.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant work experience.

Nice to have

• Experience as an API Product Owner or in API Platform Product Management.
• Experience with Azure API Management, Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, or similar platforms.
• Experience with developer portals, developer experience initiatives, or customer-facing digital platforms.
