Staff Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote within the listed U.S. states; remote technical positions in Canada are limited to Ontario. Candidates must be able to live and work full-time in an eligible location.

Salary: $165K–$200K annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead full-stack architecture within a scrum team and establish a technical vision aligned with business goals.
• Design, document, and evolve scalable distributed systems and write maintainable Ruby and TypeScript code.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks affecting delivery, reliability, and scalability.
• Mentor engineers through pair programming, design reviews, and technical coaching.
• Partner with Product, Design, engineering leadership, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Drive refactoring, test automation, experimentation, and broader architectural improvements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert full-stack development experience with Ruby on Rails and TypeScript; Angular experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with SQL and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, plus exposure to NoSQL systems.
• Experience designing scalable, distributed, and event-driven systems, including architectural planning, system design, and technical documentation.
• Experience leading multiple engineering teams, operating independently, mentoring engineers, and communicating technical investments to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to live and work full-time in an eligible U.S. state or Ontario for remote technical positions in Canada.

• Experience with Angular.
