Lab Manager / Technician (Defense Technology): Managing and operating a makerspace that supports autonomous Counter-UAS hardware development with an accent on equipment readiness, procurement, and safe lab operations. Focus on organizing fabrication and testing workflows, maintaining inventory and equipment, and anticipating the operational needs of engineering teams.

Location: Onsite in Munich, Germany; EU work authorization required.

A Munich-based defense technology startup developing fully autonomous Counter-UAS systems for modern airspace security.

What you will do

  • Manage and maintain the lab and makerspace, including tools, equipment, and workspace organization.
  • Own procurement of lab equipment, components, and consumables.
  • Operate lab and workshop equipment to support fabrication and testing.
  • Support hardware and engineering teams with hands-on operational needs.
  • Establish inventory management and equipment upkeep processes.
  • Ensure safety and operational standards as the organization scales.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience managing a lab, workshop, or makerspace.
  • Experience with procurement of technical equipment and components.
  • Comfort operating a range of lab or workshop equipment.
  • Strong organization, proactivity, and ability to anticipate operational needs.
  • EU work authorization required.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a hardware startup or engineering lab environment.
  • Technical background in electronics, mechanical engineering, or a similar field.
