Software Engineer - Associate / Assistant Vice President (Backend)

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, United States; office-based Monday through Thursday with remote work flexibility on Friday.

Salary: $80,000–$140,000 base salary, depending on level.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services and APIs.
• Translate product and business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Own projects from technical design through production rollout and ongoing support.
• Write maintainable code, contribute to design decisions, and participate in code reviews.
• Build testing, observability, security, and operational readiness into backend services.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery, investigation, and learning.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience with a modern programming language such as Ruby, Scala, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
• Experience building or integrating with APIs and backend services.
• Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Familiarity with automated testing, version control, and modern software delivery practices.
• Understanding of cloud application development and distributed systems.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and AI-assisted development skills.
