Location: Based in Shanghai and within commuting distance of the Shui on Plaza office; in-person work with colleagues, customers, or partners is required three days per week or more. The role offers flexibility to work from home or remotely on other days. Candidates must have the right to work in China. Business travel is required, and relocation support is not provided.

What you will do
- Achieve and exceed annual territory sales and profitability targets across the academic publishing portfolio.
- Manage and grow relationships with academic libraries, institutions, distributors, funders, government bodies, and other stakeholders in China.
- Identify new customers, partnership opportunities, and growth areas across journals, ebooks, open access, and related products.
- Plan customer visits, conferences, book fairs, promotional activities, and deal-closing initiatives.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Editorial, Credit Control, and Sales Support to coordinate territory coverage and customer solutions.
- Maintain CRM records, analyze products, customers, markets, and competitors, and report on market conditions and opportunities.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of successful account management experience and a proven track record in sales.
- Strong understanding of academic publishing, academic content business models, and academic library markets.
- Experience meeting or exceeding ambitious revenue targets in high-pressure sales environments.
- Strong consultative sales, analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and business development skills.
- Native Mandarin and communicable English proficiency suitable for business operations and stakeholder engagement.
- Willingness to travel within the territory and attend conferences and book fairs; competent use of MS Office and sales tools.
