Senior Engineer (Wire Harness)

Senior Engineer (Wire Harness) (Creo/Construction Equipment): Leading the design and development of durable wire harness systems for hydraulic excavators with an accent on routing, electrical schematics, 3D modeling, and component optimization. Focus on solving complex installation and reliability challenges in harsh operating environments, standardizing designs, collaborating with suppliers, and mentoring junior engineers.

Location: Onsite in Akashi, Hyogo, Japan, five days per week. Domestic and international travel may be required. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available.

What you will do

• Lead wire harness design and development for hydraulic excavators.
• Design routing solutions that withstand vibration, heat, dust, mud, and other harsh conditions.
• Create electrical schematics, harness drawings, 3D models, and BOMs using Creo and Creo Schematics.
• Evaluate installation feasibility, component interference, prototype builds, and pilot machine installations.
• Resolve technical issues with suppliers and internal stakeholders while improving product quality and reducing costs.
• Drive design standardization, technical reviews, and mentoring for junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Professional experience in electrical wiring harness design within construction equipment, automotive, industrial machinery, or a similar sector.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Business-level English and strong Japanese communication skills are required.
• Ability to work onsite in Akashi five days per week is required.
• Ability to lead complex design problem-solving, collaborate across functions, and mentor junior engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience reading and creating electrical circuit diagrams and wire harness drawings.
• Experience with Creo Cabling, Creo Schematics, CATIA, NX, or equivalent CAD and cabling tools.
• Experience supporting prototype builds, production launches, supplier collaboration, design standards, or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience leading technical reviews and design assessments.
