Electrical Engineer (Cable Sizing/Routing)

Electrical Engineer (Cable Sizing/Routing): Designing and coordinating cable routing structures for power, instrumentation and control, and other electrical systems within a major nuclear infrastructure programme with an accent on cable tray integration, schematic interpretation, and compliance with safety standards. Focus on designing physical cable routes, checking separation and interconnectivity, and supporting the delivery of high-integrity electrical systems.

Location: Bristol, South West UK. The role may require security clearance and completion of the Baseline Personnel Security Standard.

What you will do

• Design and implement cable routing structures for power, instrumentation and control, and other electrical systems.
• Interpret electrical diagrams and facility layouts to coordinate accurate routing from cable origin to endpoint.
• Support the integration of cable trays, ducts, penetrations, and other routing infrastructure.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to align routing with system architecture and site requirements.
• Perform checks for cable separation, bundling, and interconnectivity in line with safety and technical standards.
• Prepare routing documentation and support handover activities.

Requirements

• 2–12 years of experience in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Understanding of power, control, and instrumentation and control cables.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• Interest in regulated technical environments such as energy and infrastructure.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn from experienced engineering teams.
• Ability to meet security clearance requirements and complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with cable routing, site layouts, or electrical infrastructure design.
• Familiarity with routing tools, schematics, and physical layout coordination.
