Software Test Lead

Location: Portsmouth, United Kingdom; onsite work required 2 days per week

Salary: GBP 55,000–70,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead and mentor test engineers while promoting software testing, automation, and quality assurance best practices.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test scripts for marine navigation and multifunction display products.
• Plan testing activities, estimate effort, and run testing workshops with stakeholders.
• Establish test automation standards, coding standards, and testing strategies across the team.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product teams, and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Deliver commercial-grade automated test solutions in complex software environments.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with Squish test automation and strong Python scripting skills.
• Proven experience in test design, test execution, test leadership, and automated testing framework development.
• Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and industry best practices.
• Technical leadership, mentoring, stakeholder management, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience from a relevant technical military background.
• Availability to work onsite in Portsmouth two days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Qt frameworks and GUI testing and validation.
• Experience with embedded software or software-controlled products.
• Familiarity with Agile development environments.
• Experience in maritime, navigation, electronics, or other safety-critical industries.
