Software Development Engineer in Test (CI/CD)

Location: Hybrid position based out of hirify.global's Sheffield office, United Kingdom

What you will do

• Develop and maintain functional, integration, end-to-end, installer, upgrade, and regression test automation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, packaging, artifact creation, and engineering workflows.
• Automate Windows desktop packaging, code signing, publishing, installation validation, upgrade testing, and release-candidate qualification.
• Investigate build, test, installer, application, and environment failures, identify root causes, and implement reliable solutions.
• Create reusable test utilities, test data, automated Windows test environments, and maintainable build, test, and release documentation.
• Collaborate with software, product, and infrastructure teams on release readiness, defect triage, risk assessment, and engineering productivity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Software development or test automation experience with Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, PowerShell, C#, Java, or a similar language.
• Experience developing automated tests and understanding functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, CloudBees CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar systems.
• Understanding of Git and common software development workflows, with the ability to troubleshoot software, automation, build, and environment problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Windows desktop applications, Electron, or applications built using web technologies.
• Experience with Windows packaging technologies such as MSI, WiX, or NSIS.
• Familiarity with Windows code signing, software publishing, install and upgrade automation, and virtual-machine-based test environments.
• Experience with enterprise Windows environments, device-management systems, corporate proxies, restricted-user configurations, or flaky test investigation.
