Senior Software Engineer - Egress (Go/Rust)

Location: Hybrid, based in Austin, US; Lisbon, Portugal; or London, UK. Offer-stage candidates may be asked to attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

Salary for Portugal-based hires: €66,000–€91,000 annual salary.

What you will do

• Design, document, implement, test, release, and monitor egress connectivity infrastructure.
• Build capabilities for hirify.global products including WARP, Zero Trust, and the egress proxy for iCloud Private Relay.
• Translate requirements from Engineering teams into platform capabilities and collaborate with Network Engineering and SRE.
• Coordinate complex production releases and participate in the Run What You Build on-call rotation.
• Investigate escalated customer issues and support other teams through internal technical channels.
• Use AI-powered tools to analyze codebases, production systems, and datasets and accelerate problem-solving.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Professional programming experience in Go or Rust, with an interest in developing skills in both.
• Experience owning the architecture of complex, distributed, production-critical systems end to end.
• Technical leadership experience, including RFCs, design reviews, and serving as a technical escalation point.
• Knowledge of Layer 3 and Layer 4 networking, HTTP, TLS, CDN networks, secure distributed systems, and system debugging.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, plus willingness to integrate AI tools into the engineering workflow.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet routing.
• Systems-level Rust programming experience.
• Experience building tools and APIs.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, debugging large-scale distributed systems, or on-call rotations.
• Professional experience with AI-assisted development tools.
