BPL Underwriter - Valere Commercial

TL;DR

BPL Underwriter - Valere Commercial (Commercial Real Estate Lending): Underwriting complex fix-and-flip, multifamily, senior bridge, and construction loan transactions with an accent on deal structuring, cash flow analysis, property valuation, and regulatory compliance. Focus on modeling complex transactions, evaluating collateral and market feasibility, and coordinating approval and closing with production, legal, and closing teams.

Location: Remote USA; travel may be required as needed.

What you will do

• Lead underwriting, manage deal timelines, develop credit recommendations, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
• Structure commercial real estate loans with production teams to meet clients’ financial objectives.
• Prepare underwriting narratives, independent cash flow estimates, forecasts, and pricing analyses for complex transactions.
• Evaluate collateral, property valuations, market competitiveness, and the economic feasibility of proposed deals.
• Review third-party reports from appraisers, surveyors, and engineers for compliance with lending requirements.
• Present recommendations and documentation while coordinating with loan officers, closers, legal counsel, and customers through approval and closing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred.
• 5+ years of experience underwriting multifamily and commercial real estate loans required.
• Advanced knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting, cash flow forecasting, and pricing metrics.
• Experience managing high-volume assignments independently and meeting deadlines in a remote work environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with new construction, office, and retail properties.
• Completion of a formal commercial loan underwriting training program, such as Omega.
• Experience with Moody’s Credit Lens.
