What you will do

• Provide technical leadership across teams to deliver interdependent solutions aligned with company goals.
• Design and evolve backend systems and architecture using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and REST.
• Influence long-term technical strategy, balancing short-term delivery with platform health and sustainability.
• Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks across the business.
• Uphold high standards for code quality, security, privacy, and observability through contribution and mentorship.
• Mentor engineers and act as a force multiplier to enable teams and individuals.

Requirements

• Extensive professional experience building and leading software systems (typically 15+ years).
• Advanced proficiency in Ruby on Rails and backend system design.
• Proficiency in React and React Native.
• Experience operating systems using PostgreSQL and REST APIs in production.
• Familiarity with cloud-hosted infrastructure, specifically AWS.
• Must live and work permanently in the U.S.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS (S3, EC2, etc.).
• Knowledge of observability and monitoring systems.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with feature flagging systems.
• Evaluating or integrating AI / LLM-powered tools.
